On March 28, Canfor hosted a reception in El Dorado, AR to formally introduce Canfor to the community of El Dorado. The reception was open to members of the local community to help highlight that Anthony Forest Products Company (AFP) is now part of the Canfor group of companies and that Canfor has an ongoing interest in the AFP operations and being an employer of choice in the area.
The cocktail reception held at the El Dorado Conference Centre brought together a diverse group of community members including the El Dorado Mayor Frank Hash as well as representatives from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the Union County Chamber of Commerce and the South Arkansas Community College. We were pleased with the turnout and enjoyed speaking with as many community members as possible.
Overall, it was a good opportunity to highlight Canfor’s plans to be part of the El Dorado community, our commitment to invest in the community and our operations, and how Canfor offers many exciting career opportunities in the community now and in the future.
We extend our thanks to State Representative Matthew Shepherd for his support in the success of the event as well as to all those involved in putting on the event.
AFPs’ history in the community dates back to 1916 and the El Dorado and nearby Urbana plants joined Canfor as part of our recent acquisition. Canfor looks forward to continuing our tradition of making our communities stronger by investing in the El Dorado community and continuing over 100 years of employing local talent.
