Indigenous Relations
Partnering with respect and understanding.
We aspire to be the forest company partner of choice for Indigenous communities by building strong, long-lasting relationships through meaningful dialogue and collaboration, respecting Indigenous traditions, cultures, values and beliefs, and finding opportunities to work together for mutual benefit.
Our approach.
Our Canadian Indigenous Relationships Policy and Indigenous Engagement Strategy guide our work with Indigenous communities.
Our policy focuses our activities towards three primary areas: continued community engagement, working together on forest stewardship and developing mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
We seek to support reconciliation efforts with the Indigenous communities where we operate. We acknowledge the constitutional, legal, customary and traditional rights and aspirations of Indigenous Peoples, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Calls to Action of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including Call to Action 92.
