We are committed to reducing water consumption and protecting water quality through optimized production processes, leading management systems and innovative technologies.
Our approach.
Sustainable water consumption and maintaining water quality are important to Canfor. Our Environmental Management System is aligned with the ISO 14001 standard to manage water consumption and quality. In addition, our water discharge quality must meet standards in effluent permits.
In our pulp operations, effluent is monitored for indicators and priority substances of concern. Our pulp water management practices include internal water monitoring, spill control and containment procedures, and water flow and temperature measurements.
All of our Canadian wood products operations have site-specific water discharge management programs. At our US and Sweden sawmills, we continue to explore more efficient methods of water use, including stormwater collection systems.
