Crafting quality lumber in the heart of Mississippi.
Hermanville specializes in producing dimensional lumber with lengths up to an impressive 26 feet. This extra-long and wide lumber is ideal for projects requiring long spans, and the mill also manufactures scaffold candidate stock for niche markets.
A rich history of craftsmanship.
Nestled just 11 minutes away from the scenic rivers and forests of Port Gibson, Mississippi, Hermanville is home to one of Canfor’s most remarkable operations: the Hermanville Sawmill. It’s a place where rich history, industry-leading craftsmanship and natural beauty come together to create exceptional Southern Yellow Pine lumber, making quality homes and developments across the Southeast and beyond.
Extraordinary progress over time.
Southern Lumber Company, the foundation of the Hermanville Sawmill, was established in 1983 by Floyd Sulser Sr. and Bill Dearman. With nearly 80 years of combined experience, these two entrepreneurs created one of the Southeast’s most successful lumber businesses. Their high-quality lumber and commitment to quality and innovation inspired Canfor to acquire the mill in 2015.
Innovation in the industry.
Today, the Hermanville operation is a leader in producing high-quality long and wide dimension Southern Yellow Pine lumber. Whether for custom home construction or industrial applications, their products are known for their strength, durability and precision—making them the preferred choice for customers nationwide.

At the Hermanville sawmill, every log counts. With two log yards—one in Hermanville and a satellite yard in Crosby, Mississippi—the operation sources materials from a 100-mile radius, primarily from Mississippi and Louisiana. Due to its location, Hermanville purchases a high percentage of natural growth timber, which provides a steady supply of high-quality Southern Yellow Pine to form the backbone of the mill’s operation.
Looking Ahead
76,592 million board feet are forecasted to be produced at Hermanville in 2025.
