I am pleased to share that construction of Brock Commons, the soon-to-be tallest wood tower in the world, has reached a significant milestone with the mass wood structure and façade now complete and four months ahead of schedule.

As Chairman of the Softwood Lumber Committee’s (SLB) Program’s Committee, I am proud to be associated with an organization that develops and executes effective programs that benefit the whole industry.

Canfor is proud to be part of an industry that is leading Canada’s fight against climate change. With the “30 by 30” Climate Change Challenge, the Canadian forest products industry is pledging to remove 30 megatonnes (MT) f Co2 a year by 2030.

Without a doubt, the Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) helps to sell more lumber. Since its creation in 2011, the SLB has promoted the benefits and uses of softwood lumber and the results are very impressive.

Earlier this month, UBC made an exciting announcement that construction will begin on one of the tallest wood buildings in the world. When completed the 18-story building will stand 53 metres tall (about 174 feet) and will provide housing for hundreds of students.

Since its creation in 2011, the Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) has made an unprecedented impact on the softwood lumber industry through its work to promote the benefits and uses of softwood lumber products.

Today, United States Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the winners of the U.S. Tall Wood Building Prize Competition in New York City.

Today I had the pleasure of participating in a panel of national industry CEOs at the Alabama Forestry Association annual meeting. The panel focused on integrating and maintaining an ethical corporate culture during the process of restructuring.

In the 36 years I have been with Canfor, I have never seen so much opportunity for the forest industry. We have the products, the knowledge, the resources and the customer demand for unlimited opportunities today and into the future.
