Advancing reconciliation and community well-being in Tachick Lake.

The Canfor team donated $18,000 in lumber and negotiated a discounted lumber purchase price to help make the centre a reality.

Canfor supports Indigenous-led programs that support reconciliation and relationship-building through our Indigenous Communities Fund.

Canfor was recently invited to partner with the Carrier Sekani First Nation to help advance community well-being.

The Nation was planning construction of a treatment and healing centre within Carrier Sekani territory to offer increased mental health and addiction treatment services. The centre would enable members to seek the support they need, surrounded by their community and within their traditional territory.

The Canfor team donated $18,000 in lumber and negotiated a discounted lumber purchase price to help make the centre a reality. 

Offering a10-bed medical detox program and a36-bed residential treatment program, the Tachick Lake Healing Centre will deliver much-needed services to the community when it opens in the winter of 2025.It will take a land-based healing approach with practices that bring together cultural, spiritual, social and science-based medical treatments.
