Celebrating decades of service and commitment to safety.
At Canfor, safety always comes first. Our people are leading the way each and every day to create a strong safety culture to keep their peers, our operations and communities safe.
Award winning commitment to safety.
Our people are our greatest asset at Canfor. And we are always proud when our people are recognized for their achievements in creating a safer, healthier company.
A big congratulations goes to Mike O’Reilly and Ray Whalley, two valued members of Canfor Pulp’s safety team, for earning the Fire Services Exemplary Medal. This prestigious award, givenby the Governor General of Canada, recognizes over 20 years of dedication to fire services, including at least 10 years in roles involving significant risk. Mike and Ray have spent decades keeping our people and facilities safe, and this medal is a testament to their hard work, skill and leadership.
As Safety Advisors, their responsibilities go far beyond fighting fires. The Safety Advisor team is first on the scene for emergencies at our mills in Prince George, BC –whether it’s fire, rescue, hazardous materials or medical incidents. They assess situations, lead responses, and coordinate with external first responders – police, fire and ambulance – when needed.
Beyond their technical expertise, Mike and Ray are known for their mentorship and leadership. Over the years, they’ve handled some challenging incidents, helping to keep our people safe.
We’re proud to celebrate Mike and Ray’s well-deserved recognition. Their dedication and expertise have made a lasting impact, and this award is just one more way to honour all they’ve done for Canfor Pulp.
