For a second time, Canfor Pulp has been selected as a winner of a Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) Leadership Award. This year, our award is in the category Energy Performance Management.
The CIPEC awards are presented every second year to Canadian industrial organizations that have made exceptional advances in energy efficiency. Canfor Pulp was selected for demonstrating significant achievements in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship within Canada’s industrial sector and for our alignment with the Government of Canada’s commitment to advancing its clean growth agenda.
Canfor Pulp undertook several projects to increase our energy efficiency over the last two years including the implementation of a novel control-system approach to control liquor flow to our mills’ digesters. This project is the first of its kind in Canada and is estimated to save 3.4 GW of electricity per year.
At an awards ceremony held May 30, as part of the Energy Summit 2018 conference in Vaughan, Ontario, Teddy Townsley, Canfor Pulp Energy Leader, accepted the award.
Overall, we are very honoured to receive this award and to be recognized for our energy conservation efforts. Congratulations to all other companies that received a CIPEC award.
