Last week marked Mr. Peter Bentley’s official retirement from both the Canfor and Canfor Pulp Board of Directors. We are very thankful to Mr. Bentley for his lifetime commitment to this company.

For the 7th year, Canfor has been named a BC Top Employer, recognizing Canfor as leading the industry as an exceptional place to work. This recognition means that Canfor stands out as an employer of choice not only in our industry, but also in our Province, which is very important in today’s competitive job markets.

At this time of reflection, here's an overview of the past year and many of the highlights we shared throughout 2018.

With an expanding fleet on the horizon, we have unveiled a new website and visual identity for our New South Express trucking line.

At Canfor, we pride ourselves in being good citizens in the communities where we live and operate. This past weekend Canfor and Canfor kids participated in the BC Children's Hospital Miracle Weekend, presenting the hospital with a cheque of $10, 575.

Congratulations to Matt Buxton and Michael Jordan -- two Canfor employees honoured at the 2018 FPAC Industry Awards.

This year marks a special milestone for our company. In 1938 co-founders and brothers-in-law John G. Prentice and L.L.G. “Poldi” Bentley formed Pacific Veneer on the banks of the Fraser River. While we remember where we came from, we also look forward to the future, and celebrate our 80th anniversary.

Canfor plans to invest $40 million in our Camden mill in South Carolina, which will increase the mill’s capacity by 50 percent.

With 2018 nearing, I’d like to take the time to reflect on some key highlights from 2017 that were featured on our blog.
