Canfor Contributes Lumber to New Community Hall in Radium Hot Springs

By Michelle Ward, Director, Corporate Communications

I was very pleased to have the opportunity to attend the grand opening of the Radium Hot Springs Centre along with Mel Jones, Plant Manager (Radium), and Conrad Robson, Product Supply Coordinator Shipping (Radium), on August 25.

What made the grand opening so special was that we donated lumber produced at the Radium mill to the project. Our wood is featured throughout the new community centre. It was used for the building’s exterior siding, as well as structurally in the ceiling panels and accent pieces.

We are pleased that the architect chose numerous wood features; not only is it beautiful but there are numerous benefits wood brings to common spaces including enhanced indoor air quality, acoustics, thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

We’re very proud of the products we produce. To have them included in the Radium Hot Springs Centre, a facility that will be used by our local employees, their families and the community is especially exciting. It’s another project that demonstrates the beauty and benefits wood brings to buildings.
