Strong Local Roots

Canfor’s rich history dates back to the 1930s, and we are always watching for ways to build on these deep community roots, and honour local traditions. When we began to expand into the US South in 2006, we sought out companies that shared our connection to local communities.

Canfor and Canfor Pulp both have company headquarters in Vancouver, BC, and Canfor Southern Pine has a corporate office in Mobile, AL. We also have regional offices in Prince George, BC, and Myrtle Beach, SC.

In March, we formally introduced Canfor to the community of El Dorado, AR, by hosting a diverse group of community members at a reception at the local conference centre. In 2015, we purchased Anthony Forest Products, located in El Dorado. The company’s history in the community dates back to 1916.

Canfor relies on local talent to lead our companies, manage our forest operations and operate our mills. Currently, all of our company officers are long-term residents of our operating regions – most were born and educated in British Columbia and Fred Stimpson comes from Mobile. Canfor Corp. and Canfor Pulp CEO Don Kayne is a 38-year veteran of the company.

There are 11 individuals on the Canfor and Canfor Pulp boards of directors; 9 are located in British Columbia and one Ontario, South Carolina and the United Kingdom. In April, Barbara Hislop, who was with Canfor from 1977 to 2004 and held the position of vice president of operations, joined the Canfor Pulp Board of Directors, and Ryan Barrington-Foote, who received an award as one of Vancouver’s Top 40 under 40 in 2009, joined the Canfor Board.
